Referring Physicians
We realize that the decision whether to pursue genetic testing is personal to each individual patient and requires lengthy discussion of family history and other health concerns.
Our genetic specialists are exceptionally well trained and experienced in navigating the testing process with patients and helping them to make appropriate decisions for themselves and their families. Because our office is not hospital-based, we are generally able to schedule patients within 1 week and always see them in our local Raleigh office.
HCC works with physicians to determine which patients need testing and in interpreting the test results with them. We provide comprehensive feedback to referring physicians on each patient. Depending on the results of the testing we may refer them back to you for enhanced surveillance or may consult with you regarding additional specialty referrals. It is our goal to provide the counseling and testing services and return that patient to their originating physician ready to take the steps necessary to proactively manage any elevated cancer risks.
Genetic counseling and testing is covered by most insurance carriers. We will discuss this with your patient at the time of appointment scheduling.
